Once defined by the walls, road signs, and train carriages it was sprayed upon, today street art and graffiti are undergoing an evolution in form, space and governance. Hosted by postgraduate students at The Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King’s College London we invited an artist, academic, curator, local representative, digital entrepreneur, as well as the general public to join in a panel discussion to explore this spatial dissemination. The aim: To promote dialogue and to find new strategies to both understand and accommodate for street art and graffiti in their ever-expanding geographies. The panel: - Dr Luke Dickens - research associate at the Open University: What are the geographies of post-graffiti? 8:40 - Louis Masai - artist and curator: What are the opportunities for modern-day practitioners? 29:23 - Ingrid Beazley - founder of the Dulwich Outdoor Gallery and author of 'Street Art, Fine Art': What partnerships can be developed between our streets and our cultural institutions? 48:55 - Simon Baxter - head of Tower Hamlet’s Clean & Green campaign: What is the present position of graffiti and street art in relation to policy and policing? 1:08:34 - Lee Bofkin - co-founder of Global Street Art and author of 'Concrete Canvas: How Street Art Is Changing the Way Our Cities Look': What role has digitalisation had on the movement? And how can we begin to work more collaboratively? 1:23:28 Panel Discussion: 1:41:48 Carry on the conversation: #kclstreetart

All You Need Is Love - Live Painting By Stephen Quick - http://www.splinteredstudios.com/MissBristol-Live-Painting.html So I had a live painting event coming up and did not know what to paint, it was to be in centre of a busy Bristol street so I wanted to do something 'Bristol' themed, kind of like I did with 'Bristol Lip'. So logging into twitter one day I saw a story about the newly announced Miss Bristol and tweeted her half joking, half real 'I’ll paint you!' and she agreed! Sent me photos and it became one hell of a beautiful painting, so soft, so serene and commanding ‘All You Need Is Love’ at the viewer. It was painted outside Margot Mays tea shop in Bristol, out on the pavement with people walking by, chatting to me, bumping into me, it was a guerrilla painting. The day was topped off with Miss Bristol (Gabriella Peep) coming down to see the painting, which lucky she adored (I was worried!) What great things come out of a little tweet Subscribe! - http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=splinteredstudios New video every Wednesday See all my art on my site here: http://www.splinteredstudios.com All Painting, Commission, and Business Enquiries Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org Music by Ergo Schmidt - http://www.ergoschmidt.com/ And be my buddy at one of these or all of them! Wow wow wow. I went to see a couple of specific pieces here, the Link by Icon, and the dog being carried by balloons by Teddy Baden. I did not expect both pieces to be surrounded by a bunch of other massive and gorgeous works. I'm not very happy with the way I captured this spot, so expect a return visit video at some point this summer. Btw, Teddy Baden is an artist I just discovered that does some amazing work mostly centred around dogs. Yea I think I'll be stalking his pieces.

Subscribe: https://goo.gl/AVC4jE As part of our exploration of the street art scene in the UK, we went down to Waterloo on London’s South Bank to meet some of the writers and artists involved in one of London’s oldest graffiti landmarks. They gave us a revealing insight into their subculture, the risks and the rewards, and the reasons why they are so passionate about what they do. What does street art mean to you? Are street art, tags and graffiti outlets for creativity or something far more destructive? Comment below and let us know what you think. discovering awesome street art and witnessing it live at upfest 2016 in Bristol uk.
This video seeks to record some of the brilliant street art found in London's Shoreditch and Brick lane area in 2015 & 2016. It is rather sad to see that some of these beautiful works have already been painted over by other street artists.
Definitely one of the most impressive street artists in London. Dan Kitchener's pieces are intricate to say the least. This geisha one is one at Green Papaya on Kinglands road is one of the smaller ones. Brilliant. Shot with a GoPro Hero 4 on a Zhiyun Z1 Evolution gimbal, and an Iphone 6.

The work of Banksy shocks, provokes and forces many to stop in their tracks. But what makes the street artist all the more fascinating is that his identity remains a mystery. The question is, how? Not all street art is spray paint and wheatpaste. London Kaye crochets large colorful murals out of yarn and ties them up to walls and fences. INSIDER spoke with Kaye in Brooklyn to watch how she creates her pieces and see what is involved in the process. London Kaye: My name is London Kaye, and I'm a street artist here in Brooklyn. Everything I make is made out of yarn. Yarn bombing is when you take a piece of crochet or knit and you wrap it around something, usually outside. I think it's great, because it takes that craft of your grandma that holds so much nostalgia and is almost reinventing it in a whole new way. I started crocheting when I was 13, I sold scarves to my friends and girls at my dance studio when I was growing up. After I graduated college, I was working at Apple, 9-5 job, and knew there was more to life than selling computers. So, I took one of my scarves I made and wrapped it around a tree outside of my house in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn and left it there. It started catching on, I haven't stopped since. Coming up with a piece, it always starts with an idea, and I get inspiration from current events, things going on in pop culture, bright colors; anything that kind of interests me. From there, sometimes, I'll draw it out, water down the shapes to the most basic shapes; from the sketch I crochet it, I glue it all together, and then I hang it up on the fence. I'll go through and tie each string up on the fence, cut the strings, take a photo and I'm out. I usually put up my crocheted art on chain link fence. When I started out, I had no idea it would be such a perfect canvas, because it allows you to stretch and manipulate the yarn. I also love doing it out of a water pipe or unexpected objects that usually wouldn't see crocheted. I like to mix a lot of different colors and textures together to create a bit more depth. I print my own crochet hooks on 3D printers, I actually just got a patent approved a few weeks ago. My crochet art usually lasts about two weeks. It's not the weather that hurts the crochet. The yarn does very well in rain or snow, in the heat. It's usually people that take it, but I tell myself whoever takes it, loves it so much, they can't live without it, and that kind of keeps me going. Out of the, probably 400 yarn bombs I've hung up, I've been stopped four times. I never got officially in trouble by the police and hopefully I'm going strong with that record. Right from the start, people started reaching out, brands started reaching out to me, asking them to do marketing campaigns, advertising campaigns. A couple of my favorite brand collaborations I've done is: a capsule collection with Red Valentino, which is a fashion brand based out of Rome, and I got to do 14 different store windows around the world and open up two new stores and do a capsule collection of crochet clothes; dream. I got to do a 25-foot by 50-foot billboard in Times Square for Miller Lite beer, all crocheted. I've worked on a Gap commercial crocheting a school bus. I've crocheted high heels for Sarah Jessica Parker. My favorite piece is a crocheted dragon I put up, it was on 6th Avenue between 14th and 15th street and stretched for about 20 feet. It was shooting fire out of its mouth. When it got pulled down, the community came back with ribbons saying where's my dragon, who took my dragon and it was the first time I got to see, wow, this art really does affect the people that live here and see it every day. Everybody has that connection to yarn, so no matter who it is, young, old, where they're from, they've seen crochet. I just love bringing unexpected joy to people's day and I think that's what street art does. I am a really big "[The] Amazing Race" fan, so I was at a sushi restaurant one night and I met the host of "The Amazing Race." We got to talking and somehow, I ended up on a season of "The Amazing Race." I came in third place. The crochet did not help at all, I was really hoping for, like, a crochet challenge, or a crochet challenge, or a crochet challenge. No.

It was the stunt that stunned the art world and the elusive artist behind it is now out to prove it really happened. Anonymous British artist Banksy made heads spin when his "Girl With Balloon" canvas shredded in front of a crowd after it sold at auction for $1.4 million, but many speculated about whether he was telling the truth, claiming the painting didn't shred at all. Others believe the auction house was in on it. InsideEdition.com's Mara Montalbano (https://twitter.com/MaraMontalbano) has more.

Banksy has outdone himself. His "Devolved Parliament" painting just set a new sale record for his work at Sotheby's in London. The auction house expected the painting to fetch up to $3 million. When the gavel came down and the fees were tacked on, an anonymous buyer paid more than $12 million to take this piece home. "Devolved Parliament" depicts chimpanzees filling the chairs of Britain's House of Commons. InsideEdition.com's Mara Montalbano has more.

Thanksy is a street artist movement performing random acts of kindness. Undercurrents was invited to spend the early morning with one artist in Swansea. #Thanksy We live in a society that seems to be turning its back on the most needy and vulnerable, That admires wealth over all else. It is said that art reflects society, as well as inspires. This month someone taped a Banana to a wall and sold it for a small fortune, it was not art, but it was a reflection of society, a society where greed is the driver, where demand is driven by publicity and celebrity, where a piece of food is used for fantastic profit while others go hungry. Could such 'art' inspire society? In a way this did, a small collective was formed, perhaps street art could inspire a more caring society? #Thanksy was born. Thanksy is not an artist, anyone can be Thanksy, even you. All you need is tape and things someone less fortunate might need, It could be food or warm clothing where homeless people sleep, Guitar picks where buskers play, a tooth brush, the creativity is in thinking about what someone less fortunate might need, where, when? Your art is to bring a smile to a face with a random act of kindness. When you see a random act of kindness say #Thanksy on social media, inspire others to make society care again.
